ARBA Rabbit Judge #970
ARBA Rabbitry Registration #D5504
Advisor/Education Coordinator, Hare Raisers 4-H Rabbit Club
As the rabbit industry changes, modifications in the rabbitry have also occurred, as it is a hobby much like the hosta gardens. The property constantly changes during the seasons, but something is always in bloom from March through September. Spring brings Crocuses, Double Daffodils (including White Lion, Spring Cheer, Bridal Crown, Yellow Cheerfulness, Peach Cobbler, Double Star, Manly, Pink Champagne, and Flower Parade), Double Tulips (including Foxy Foxtrot, Cartouche, Foxtrot, Dream Touch, and Columbus), Azaleas, Weigelas (including the variegated My Monet and reblooming Spilled Wine), and Rhododendrons. Late Spring and early Summer welcomes Lilacs, Peonies, Clematis, Double Knockout Red and Pink Roses, Purple Geranium, Double Tiger Lilies, Daylilies, Oriental and Asiatic Lilies (including the fragrant Stargazer, Forever, Susan, and Carpet Border), fragrant Double Oriental 'Lotus Breeze' Roselily, and Hosta blooms.
With the goal of 125 varieties of Hosta, the property becomes more and more inviting every year with the vision of creating a relaxing oasis in the future. Currently 115 varieties, most of those in the collection are sports of others though some are added due to their uniqueness such as Wheee! and Seducer. All hostas grow must be able to tolerate some sun and harsh winters that can occur in Northeastern Ohio (zone 5b). They are planted in rich organic mixed soil that includes some rabbit manure, and mulched heavily every other year and as needed too.

- Giant: Plants having a leaf area greater than 144 square inches and grow taller than 28 inches.
- Large: May have a leaf area of 81 to 144 inches and height between 18 to 28 inches.
- Medium: Usually used to provide colors to any garden, provides a leaf area between 25 to 81 inches, and height of 10 to 18 inches.
- Small: Often provide garden borders or ground cover with leaf area of 10 to 25 inches, and height between 6 to 10 inches tall.
